Whilst researching similar stories to my plot, I came across the 2010 movie, "Waiting for Forever", which is a romance/ drama movie, starring: Rachel Bilson & Tom Sturridge, written by Steve Adams and directed by James Keach. The whole story is about a guy that is obsessively in love with his long-lost childhood friend, Emma, and tries in various ways to re-connect with her and create an ideal love story, but getting disappointed when he soon realises she's already taken. The story goes on and on… I haven't finished watching the movie yet, as it had a tiring and never-ending plot, but it definitely was useful for research and had many similarities to my own plot which was very exciting finding out about whilst watching.
I've attached bellow the trailer of the movie, if you like you can go watch it, of course by not watching the whole movie I can't really write a review for it, but once I have I will definitely post one about it ASAP.
