After contacting the people representing each of the stories, I've written about below, which we're using for our news channel, we finally have official dates of our meetings, in which we're going to meet up with people from both the 'knitting for charity' and 'museum trust' stories.
KNITTING FOR CHARITY STORY & MEETING:
One of our first stories, was 'Knitting for Charity' which is a group of women that get together every week and knit for a different charity each year and raise money through the stuff they make. What interested us the most, is the fact that this year they are raising money for a specific machine that the Medway Hospital need in their breast cancer department, that will help numerous patients in the area. We are yet to find out about the exact function of this machine, and what impact it will have on the hospital, as well as the whole community.
Hannah has been contacting Carole, the woman that organises these charity events and head of the whole knitting group, and she very kindly invited us to join them during their next meeting, which is next Wednesday (22nd October).
I'm really looking forward to meeting all of them next week, and would love to hear each of their stories.
Hannah has also booked out a Canon DSLR camera for our meeting, so we can take some test shots, photographs, etc. and be prepared for our actual shoot, in a few weeks time.
MUSEUM TRUST STORY & MEETING:
Hannah first found this story, during the period when she was ill and couldn't come to the university; in a booklet that Helen had given us that contained local stories and events around Swale. But she had the opportunity to talk to Helen about this story, which was great because she really liked it. The article was about a group of people that have created a trust fund so that they could raise money to transform an old building, known as the Milton Regis Court Hall, into a museum. After meeting up with Helen and discussing how interesting and relevant this story was to our channel's 'theme', Hannah contacted Councillor Mike Whiting to find out more about who is in charge of the museum trust fund, so we could find out more information about the project and how they raise money for it.
Thankfully we received a reply from him and that he would be grateful to talk about the whole project, with us, and a few others involved in it, next Friday (24th October).
I'm equally excited about both of the meetings that we have planned for next week, and I'm really happy being in a group whilst going to these meetings as we can get all the answers we need easier and faster from each person.
After we got confirmation from both the Museum Trust and Knitting for Charity group, we decided to update Helen again on the progress of our project. Our meeting/ tutorial with her is this Friday (17th Oct.) and I will update you on what she thinks about our meetings.
Yours,
I.
