STORY-TELLING UNIT: Development of a Story Based on the Title "The Meeting"

The photo we were given, when we were put in
to pairs in order to develop our story.
[EDITED BY: Ilianna Ntouvli]
Today, we were grouped in to pairs and given three pieces of paper. One of them was a photo of the woods, which we had to have as a set location for the story we developed. The other two papers were the careers of our two characters, photographer and political activist, which we based our story on. Our task was, to develop an idea using our photo, the woods, and our two characters, the photographer and the political activist, and develop an idea based on the title "The Meeting".
The person I teamed up with was Aimee, and together we were given certain task conditions to use as a template in order to develop our idea properly.
Here's a picture of the paper we were given:
Using this helped us a lot, indeed when thinking about our storyline. However, we first decided to start by describing the characters. The photographer, Daisy, is a petite shy brunette who doesn't attract a lot of attention from her big family as she's the youngest one. She's a fashion photographer who's inspired to be a landscape photographer in the future. She wears fashionable but cheap clothing showing she's not economically stable. She wears minimal amount of makeup and a lot of layered clothing showing how she doesn't really care how the outside world looks at her but at the same time showing that she's self-conscious. We also see that she's nature-friendly and loves the outdoors and that's one of the main reasons she appears in that scenery (the woods). Our second character the political activist, Henry, is an only- child coming from an economically wealthy family which shows his selfish-ness and how spoilt he is but at the same time we see how he's eco-friendly, loves nature and tries to protect the place he feels more at home, the woods. That's why we see him wearing a suit, looking very serious but at the same time aggravated by a horrible situation where a tree was about to be cut down. And so we see these two very opposing but at the same time quite similar characters, meet at their favourite place, the woods.

Storyline:

Beginning:

In the first scene we see the girl taking pictures of the woods, wondering around, being in her own little world unaware of her surroundings, when suddenly a very masculine and attractive man appears in one of her photos as a blur.

Middle:

Stunned, she tries to find out what has happened. The man, being in his own little world too, is also surprised by her presence which causes him to snap at her and starting an argument. After a while, he walks off but eventually realises that he's made a huge mistake and so he returns to apologise.

End:

He eventually apologises and she accepts it. However when he asks her out for coffee to make amends, she at first refuses but then accepts (which brings her out of her comfort zone). Walking in to the sunset, the two characters realise that they gave the wrong impression to one another and they also find out that they have a lot in common. One of them being... the woods.
The whole theme of our story was "Don't judge a book by it's cover".
So, this is it, hope you liked it. I really enjoyed working with Aimee (my partner-in-crime for the making of this story) and we really worked well together and hope we pair up again soon. Thanks Aims.
I will be posting more soon, as we have been given the title "The Meeting" to base our own story on and make a short trailer for a film out of it. So, i think this is it for now. I'll keep you updates on my latest ideas and mini developments.
Bye for now.
Yours,
I
