STORY-TELLING UNIT: Development of Idea and Pitch

For this unit we are given the title "The Meeting", to develop in to a 10-min script. At the beginning, I was trying very hard to think of an idea but nothing came to me. At some point, I was talking to one of my closest friends from greece and she mentioned a boy I once was in a relationship with, and how he's happy with his new girlfriend, etc. Whilst talking about him I remembered a personal 'event' that happened, whilst I was in a relationship with this boy and how I could easily develop it in to a great 10-min script (though I'm not sure it's going to fit). 
Long story short, my whole idea on "The Meeting" is based on a true story that happened a while back, when a girl met her long-lost childhood friend again, ten years after their first separation. The whole story will involve around the whole re-development of their friendship and how it develops in to a true love-story. But do love stories always have happy endings? I don't think so, indeed when the girl is already in a 2-year old relationship with her soon-to-be-fiance, David. 
So my main location of "The Meeting" will be the airport, however, the development of the friendship-lovestory will be based and located at a park, in London.

Characters:

Isabelle

Girl (Isabelle/Izzy): Music Journalist, loves music, hopeless romantic, creative, kind, friendly, ambitious, self-conscious, insecure when it comes to relationships, in a serious relationship with her soon-to-be-fiance David, loves her job and her boss (works for a magazine), wears fashionable clothing.

Boy (Daniel/Danny/Dan): Famous rockstar, loves women, music is his life, confident, sociable, out-going, flirty, handsome, not a relationship type of guy,

Danny

troubled past (abusive father), moved from the UK to the US, has created his own little 'empire' by himself, wealthy, hates paparazzi and publicising his personal life. Also, wears sun-glasses and baseball hat when in public (to not get recognised).

Goal:

Each of the above characters have a goal. Isabelle's goal is to build her career and reach a stage where she will be independent and won't be supported by her future husband. However, she always has in mind her child-hood best friend, Danny, and one day she wants to re-meet him. Danny's goal, on the other hand, is to travel the world, make his band's name bigger than what it already is, and keep up with his best-selling music that he and his band-mates put a lot of effort on. Will they fulfil their goals and dreams?

Storyline:

Beginning:

We see Isabelle leaving her mother at the airport and moving backwards towards the exit with her back to the door. Suddenly she bumps in to a tall muscular guy but before she realises who she actually bumped in to, she starts to apologise. 

Middle:

Both of them look stunned at one another's presence. After actually realising that it's really them, they start talking. Danny asks Isabelle out and they go to their favourite park (where they used to play). Whilst talking they get carried away. However, we continuously have flashbacks of when they were children and how similar their actions are to the past. Suddenly, Danny kisses Isabelle. Whilst we see the two of them reunited in such an intimate way, Isabelle pulls away and slaps him across the face but doesn't realise they've been watched. Not only from his shocked fans but also by a very aggravated David (Isabelle's boyfriend). But, what we also see is David's stunned face and agar mouth as he realises that his best friend, Danny that has just returned from his band's world tour, has betrayed him in more ways than others. Again we get flashbacks of when Danny went to David's and Isabelle's house, when Isabelle was on a business trip to Italy, and was staring weirdly at pictures of David and Isabelle together. As realisation creeps, in a sudden we see David snap and they start a huge fight. Fans start recording the whole scene with their mobile phones.

End:

Towards the end of the fight, we see the two friends getting split by a police officer passing by. Isabelle, however, this whole time has been screaming and trying to stop them, ending up being punched hard in the head by David. Then the two male characters realise how badly Isabelle is hurt and take her to the hospital. When eventually it's time for Isabelle to leave the hospital, she has to make a decision: to either leave one of them and live happily ever after or leave them both and continue her life focusing on her career. What's our last scene is at the airport again, where we see Isabelle going in with Danny and David and Danny carrying a suitcase (indicating he's leaving). After David and Isabelle greet him goodbye and leave him proceed to his check-in, we see David kissing Isabelle on the cheek and saying "Im sorry... goodbye Iz." 

With David leaving from the airport, Isabelle turns around and stares at Danny who is now staring at her and smiling from across the check-in desk area and ending the story in a cliff-hanger (leaving the audience guess her next step- her decision).

Pitch:

They say that when two people part and their love for each other fades, they will never be the same again. But what if this loves re-develops in a few mere seconds with a brief touch of an intense kiss?
