So under each theme, there were five names/ people that wanted to do that theme. Our task was to cooperate with those other four people to create your own unique title sequence, which means that we all had & have to create a title sequence that conveys our theme and we all have to use the same one. But when working with a group of males/boys is a challenge, I must confess, so I had to send out a group message to all of them to get organised and create the title sequence.
I, however, have been doing a lot of research lately for it, and have come across many exampleS that we can use to convey our theme.
The title sequence of the series "Masters of Sex", although it's not relevant to our theme, I loved how with short length shots and actions it captures the watcher's attention and creates this interest as to what were about to see.
So yes, for my idea I'm going for something like this:
However the title sequence of the series "True Blood", is also the style I'm going for; as it subtly tells you so much through the short-length shots about the whole plot of the story but at the same it's very vague as to what is going to happen next.
As for the making of "True Blood"'s title sequence, I found the video below, which shows every little detail of each shot and how planned it was to show this eccentricity of the type of characters we're going to see after the sequence. It also conveys this mysterious, haunting but also violent and sexual mood that would be a huge part of the series itself, which as we see was the mood the directors and creative designers were going for.
And here below, there is a number of title sequences from various movies, that are put together for a video presentation for the works of Kurt Volk (Troublemaker Studios), Ben Ratatz (MK12), Gareth Smith & Jenny Lee (Smith & Lee Design):
The last part of this whole research process, is music. As an idea, Danny and I thought that using the song "Think (freedom)" by Aretha Franklin, would be a cheesy but meaningful song & choice and would be great as a soundtrack, however we would need to get music license in order to use the original piece.
I'll be posting more soon.
Thank you for reading once again.
Yours,
I.
