COMMISSIONS DOCUMENTARY UNIT: Research II

Stories of True Heroism:

Though I've got some ideas down for our documentary, I continued just searching heroic stories of people that would maybe be a greater idea from the ones I already have, or that would be great material to establish my ideas and to make them stronger.
Below I've written some true heroic stories that I read recently on a greek newspaper.

Father Carries Handicapped Son 14.5km To & From School, Daily:

The protagonist of this story is the devoted 40-year old father, Yu Xukang from China, who carries his handicapped son to and from school daily, in a basket.
"I know that my son is physically disabled but there is nothing wrong with his mind. However, I couldn't find any school here with the facilities to accept him and was constantly rejected. In fact the only place where I could get a place for him was at the Fengyi township in Yibin county in Sichuan province- which is a five-mile walk away...", he said.
According to the Daily Mail, however, he was determined that the boy would not suffer from being raised by a single parent and he wanted to give him the best opportunity.
Isn't it a pretty heroic story to hear about? YES, ABSOLUTELY YES! This story actually goes with one of my ideas about single parents and how they face challenges everyday in order to raise their kids alone.

Firefighter Saves Dog Using CPR:

After receiving a call from an elderly woman reporting that her house was on fire, the fire department immediately went "to save the day" only to find the elderly woman sat in her bedroom in front of her two dead dogs and one unconscious, whilst her house was burning down. Once the woman and her dogs were finally rescued, the 27 year old firefighter, David Bravo, used CPR on the unconscious dog, and after five crucial minutes the dog came back to life.
This is truly a heroic story as a firefighter wasn't at all biased towards saving the dog indeed when going mouth to mouth. Off course, I would love to do a documentary based on this story but only if this incident didn't happen in Santiago- Chile, and happened near here.

"I've Got A Lot Of Hair Already, So Please Give Them To Someone With Cancer":

Emily James
Emily James, 3, amazed her parents one day when she announced to them that she would prefer that she cut some of her own hair and gave them to someone that really needs them. Specifically she required that the amount of hair that would be cut from her, would go to a cancer patient that would need it more than her, as they would have lost their own due to chemotherapy treatments.
This little angel off course said: "I've got a lot of hair already, so give them to someone".
The video is below:
This video is so sweet, and the whole story behind it  is really moving. What I personally want from our own documentary is to show this type of heroism to our audience and show how there are people out there, even young children like Emily, that are true heroes. And that ladies & gentlemen is our goal.
Thanks again.
Yours,
I.
