DIGITAL NEWS PRODUCTION: Critical Case Study- Research

For this unit, we had two main 'tasks' to do. One of them being, writing a 1200-1500 word case study in which we had to compare and contrast two main evening news programmes from the same day on either BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5 or Sky.
At first I struggled quite a bit with understanding how exactly I would approach this. The first step I took was, to choose two of the channels listed above. I chose BBC and ITV mainly because they are two of the most well-known channels in the UK and the two which I personally prefer for catching up with the latest national and international news. I then went on and asked our unit leader, Helen, what we were set to write about and how to approach this essay and on what angle (etc.) which she specified that we had do compare and contrast one news programme from each channel. that I've chosen, and talk about various aspects of the presentation of the stories they have and always ask "why?" and "how?" on various aspects of each of their presentation.
