Critical Reflections:
So what do I think would make our video/website/channel better? Hmm, let me think about that. If I wasn't a perfectionist right now, I would say that our channel and all its content, is absolutely amazing, and no changes will be needed to be made.
But the fact that I'm still writing about this project, says a lot...
As a group, I think we had quite a few problems in the way we worked together as well as the way we tried to understand what each other wanted to get out of this project, but never fully understood. We are four very strong and opinionated individuals that never take 'no' for an answer, which did cause quite a few problems. We all tried to put what we each visualised into to this project and we all tried to work on this project together but ended up not having the same amount of input. Which once again, caused problems. And those problems to be honest weren't ever cleared out, and we never dealt with them. We did each express our opinions on what was happening through messages, but never dealt with them face-to-face.
First things first:
I think if we had planned from the very first week what we needed to do for the next 6 weeks, we would have finished our video sooner, at least our filming would be done by the summative deadline. This would in every way be a great step, as the producer and I, were left to deal with all the work needed for the channel to be complete and didn't seem to get much help for over 3 weeks, from the others. This obviously caused (again) many problems, as I specifically had focussed all my time on setting up the channel, completing the interviews/statements/etc. getting everything set up, and was left with only two weeks to work on my fiction adaptation project. This was absolutely wrong of me, I must admit, as I should have seemed for help from the others (excluding Hannah, as she was working with me), and especially with our lecturers.
Casting our presenters & reporters:
I was quite happy with the presenter and reporter that I casted, for our news channel, but wasn't at all pleased with all the problems that our female presenter, Esther, caused up till the last minute- when we all decided to let her go, as she was quite rude with us and seemed to want us to work around her, instead of her around us. So after that incident I, off course, took her role. However, this became a problem as by the time that we let Esther go, we had already filmed our studio part with Ben and so in the script we had included her name and so Ben had said her name in the recording. We then called back Ben, but due to his very busy schedule he required us to pay him a proper salary plus his expenses, which we didn't have the money for since we only needed him for maximum an hour. So we then thought of using Hannah or one of the first years, since they had already finished with their work, but then realised that Dave, our reporter, had mentioned Ben's name in the live (which we could have cut down, in the edit, but seemed too risky). So after everything, we decided for me to just pretend to be Esther, keep Ben and Dave's videos as they were, and then mention in our blogs all the changes that we would have made if we had a second chance.
Some of those changes would be to: first, check the script with Helen, before starting to film because we had already filmed the studio part and then checked with her, which was absolutely wrong of us, but Helen was very busy when we needed her to check it. Also, we should then
Camera & Sound:
Now for this part, I got quite annoyed. One of the things that annoyed me was that for the studio shoot, Tim didn't know how to use the Canon 7D, which he should have taken over the weekend and watched tutorials online and figured out how to use it, instead of expecting me or anyone in our group to show him whilst we were doing our shoot- which I personally thought was quite unprofessional of him.
Then we had a problem with the sound, and had to ask Fergus for help during the shoot. Again, we all are responsible for that, and I think that we should have just sat down on that day or the previous one and planned everything for the shoot, instead of doing figuring it out, during whilst filming.

First of all, Hannah and I spent quite a lot of time on the editing part of this project (spending weekends and nights) but later on, thankfully, Sei-Kai took over my role for the past week since I desperately needed to focus on my Fiction Adaptation unit.
The main corrections that I would make would be that I forgot to add a banner on the studio part which would write Ben's name and the titles of each story. Also I would add banners for each person for the vox-pops interviews, but since the girls had gotten the names of the people that they interviewed from the consent forms they signed but weren't sure who was who, we didn't want to risk putting the wrong names under each person, so that is the main reason why I didn't put those banners. Also another mistake that I made was that I didn't include our social networking sites in the credits or the presenter & reporters names.
And one last thing would make our channel a little bit more interesting would be to pay online for opening and closing titles as the ones we have right now, look a bit 'rough' and quite student-y.
Although, I'm stating all the problems that we had with the production of our channel and what we could have made better, I think that for the time that we were given and for the way that we worked as a group, I'm quite happy with the end result of it, and would love to work again with the people in my group (though- may I add) I would prefer if we communicated better and didn't go off and done our own thing without notifying the rest.
Below I have attached the promo and the actual video that we have submitted. Hope you enjoy.

I.
